Poor neglected blog! My best friend left on a big, jet airplane today to head back to the USA permanently. Sigh. Many good-bye parties, nights out, too much alcohol and fun later I sit feeling blessed to have had her in my life for four fun filled years, but so very sad she has gone with her lovely family. We saw them off at the airport today and there were rivers of tears.

Michelle is from the South in the USA so hopefully she liked her good-bye present. I embroidered her a set of tea towels in black thread of the days of the week. She has a lot of black and white homewares in her house, so I actually decided not to edge them. Hopefully she will remember us all when she uses them. I posted a few more photos on Flickr of them. The patterns were from Posie Gets Cozy and the patterns are just gorgeous.

I really need to buckle down and finish a few things. Rhys’ school has a fundraiser and I am going to try and finish a few things for the auction night. I have been on a bad roll on the craft front. Sloan was really loving the tv a little too much, so I decided no tv until after 5PM so I can make dinner and they can chill out. So far it is working, but then there doesn’t seem to be a spare moment for Mum to catch my breath. I am sure it will start to come together a bit more….hopefully!

I am reading “The White Masai” autobiography after seeing the movie. Great read and obviously a lot more insight into what went on. Good read!

Back!

The baby shower was a hit!  We had a ball and the lady I threw it for was beaming the whole time.   A few hours after the last guests left I started feeling unwell and was struck down with the flu!  Hence the lack of posting and crafting.  I had a lot of meaningful time on the couch though and feeling almost fighting fit again.  Time to hit that machine!   I saw a very intriguing movie called, “The White Masai” when I was down and out.  It was based on a true story of a Swiss woman who travels to Kenya and falls in love at first sight with a Masai warrior.  She then goes to live / marry him in a very rural part of tribal Kenya.  It was fascinating.  I found out there is also a book based on her life and going to put that on my reading list.

Here is a photo of the table at the shower.  The best decision of the day was to have the sandwiches catered when numbers soared to 20 ladies.  I then could concentrate making the sweets and enjoying myself with the guests.

We couldn’t pass up the obligatory “wet the baby early” in the champagne glasses.

And of course I couldn’t avoid my favorite thing to do the day before the shower…….eleventh hour baby shower sewing!  Jane doesn’t know the sex of her baby, so I personalized a few linen baby wraps for the new bub.  They were so easy and fun to make and I used these wraps all the time.  I hope this useful gift makes up for all the crap baby presents I gave before I had kids and had a clue on what to buy for them.  Please excuse the poor photo quality due to late light of the sun and needing to wrap the present!

Rhys’ school has a fundraiser coming up and I would like to focus on finishing a few projects for their baskets they fill with donated toys to raffle.  Time is ticking and the last few days off have put me a bit behind.  Hopefully I can get some time to focus and pull it together.

We are starting slow with the cat introductions and now they are almost friends. Things are coming along great with CoCo becoming part of the family and even sitting on our laps at night.

I am struggling in the craft arena at the moment.  I have too many things going at the moment and only work on them five minutes at a time.  The result is well….there is no result because nothing is getting finished.

The baby shower is looming this Saturday and 20 ladies are coming. Gulp. I think I may have bitten off more than I can bake / cook.  Hopefully I will have some Speed Racer craft to show later this week.
