Here is the final of the dragon pillow. It was a really fun projct to make and I hope the birthday boy will get a kick out of it. I have started a giant Christmas stocking that has been lingering in my closet for a year and a half. Hum……can you say bigger project than I thought? There is a lot of embellishing and embroidery. Will post some photos next week on progress. Have a great weekend all!

Backhoe Loader

Hours of fun have been had with our home made backhoe loader. Funny how much money we spend on toys from shops. Great excuse to buy more ice-cream cones too.

Heated debates have commenced about the merits of a Diego Halloween costume vs. a Blue Lightning McQueen contraption. I think I know what I am going to be and it is the perfect excuse for me to buy a glue gun! Can you believe I don’t have a glue gun?

We are about to enter full on Halloween planning mode over here. Should I mention now that it is my favorite holiday?

dragon shirt
Originally uploaded by Sew SydneyOne of Rhys’ best friends at preschool has a passionate love of dragons. Rhys is not quite so sure about them and was a very reluctant model. We made this t-shirt and have started a matching pillow for the birthday boy. I wouldn’t have necessarily chosen red for the t-shirt, but it is so hard to find plain shirts out there. Red was the only size left in age four…..so red it is.

We have had a tough week of sick, coughing, wheezing kids. After multiple doctor visits, chemists visits and a trip to the emergency room I am tired! I have had to dig deep to stay positive. Sleep deprivation really can change your outlook on life.

On a very positive note, I finishted Sloan’s quilt top and wanted to mail it today to get professionally quilted. I just ran out of steam with the sick kids. Have a great weekend and here is to sleep for all!

Here is the latest embroidery updates on the pink quilts. Again, photo quality not great! One last thing to add to Sloan’s quilt and will be in home stretch. Hopefully will be done soon as I am itching to start new projects! I bought another t-shirt for another birthday creation inspired by a little boy’s love of Dragons. I was lucky enough to be invited to hear Al Gore speak tonight at Darling Harbour which should be fascinating. Alas, no sewing tonight…..just champagne. : )

Pillows

I wasn’t very impressed with the back of the fire truck pillow. It gaped a bit which was frustrating and I ran out of time to put a button on it to deliver it to the birthday boy who was visiting from Armidale. Since it is for a three year old little boy, I think he will be okay it isn’t 100% perfect.

My son wanted one as well once he saw the fire truck.  I made him a dinasour pillow last year and he has complete distain for it. It is the first pillow he throws off the bed at night and he actively tells me he doesn’t like it!

I am finishing up the final embroidery on the quilts. I am hoping to break their backs this week now that birthday madness is behind us.

Craftitis (craft disease) is rampant in my brain. I really want to start this Xmas stocking project that has been lingering in my closet for two years now. This is going to be the year to finish it! I hope……
